Transportation Building | Berrien Springs Public Schools
Berrien Springs, Michigan
Master planning over the past several years determined a need to make valuable
property available in the heart of campus for future development. The bus parking and
charging stations north of the Middle School and the Bus Garage at the far southeast
corner of campus were earmarked for relocation. Once an existing car dealership facility
went up for auction the district participated and eventually purchased the property at the
M-139 / 31 interchange. The thought of an off-campus transportation facility became
attractive to administrators with the possibility of improving on-campus traffic and safety.
Four service bays, a wash bay, tool and equipment storage, staff locker rooms and lounge and offices were all provided as a part of this renovation project.
Site improvements included asphalt, new bus charging stations, and security fencing.
Exterior improvements included building envelope, lighting, and signage. Interior
improvements included HVAC systems, plumbing systems, power, lighting systems, and
interior finishes.
To promote this off-campus site, an entrance canopy was repurposed from the
Central Office site to assist with Berrien Springs Public School’s branding and identification.
