Drone Services
In today’s competitive landscape, businesses are looking for ways to stay ahead of the curve, while saving money in the process. At CARMI Design Group, one way we help our clients achieve this goal is through our drone services program. Drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, provide a unique perspective on a project, which can prove invaluable in the design and planning stages. Our specially trained industry experts take the guesswork out of the entire process – piloting drones, capturing data, and generating insights – so you can better understand your site and structure with a high level of accuracy without ever leaving the office.
Here are some of the benefits of using drones before, during, and after completing your construction project:
- Drones can provide a bird’s-eye view of a project. This can be helpful for visualizing the overall layout of a project and identifying potential problems, which can offer cost savings.
- Drones can capture high-resolution images and videos. This footage can be used to create presentations, or to document the progress of a project.
- Drones can be used to inspect hard-to-reach areas. Our team can identify potential safety hazards or construction defects during the punch list inspection process.
- Drones can be used to create 3D models of a project. This can be helpful when visualizing the final product and making changes to the design.
Whether you’re checking for beam stability, leakages in pipes, electrical problems, soil changes, crumbling concrete, or breaks in a building’s structure, a drone can help. The data gathered from our drone footage can be used to create progress reports so that construction managers can ensure your project stays on schedule. This same data can also be used to give visual proof of progress to satisfy project stakeholders.
CARMI Design Group performs a number of drone services that vary from project to project. Some projects are brand new buildings that start out with a vacant property, others involve existing buildings slated for renovation or additions. Some of our projects aren’t buildings at all. CARMI designs roads, parking lots, and even sports fields like Niles Viking Football/Soccer Stadium (seen below)
CARMI is often also hired to provide facility studies that grade the condition of existing buildings and show supporting documentation. For example, the below photo depicts many areas where water would pond on the roof.
CARMI even provides services to video document traffic patterns for a school system during their morning drop off. Our team is happy to tailor its services to fit the needs and desires of our clients. We are looking to add infrared thermal imaging to our list of drone services, soon. This would allow for scanning of the exterior of a building envelope to determine areas with thermal loss or poor energy efficiency.
